Welcome to 2021 everybody! Hopefully this year treats us all a little better than 2020 *crosses fingers* and we all get to enjoy ourselves a little bit more. I know that this is the time for resolutions and goal setting so I wanted to bring to you some of my reading goals and also a little advice.
My first goal, which is the same every year, is to read 69 books. I like setting my goal here because it’s a goal that pushes me to read more than 52 books (one for each week), but it’s not so large that I feel stressed about achieving it.
My second goal is to read the three oldest books on my goodreads tbr shelf. These are books that I added in 2015 and still haven’t gotten around to them. Granted, one of these books wasn’t published until 2018, but I’m still counting it. These are: Bad Feminist, The Invasion of the Tearling, and Vengeful. My hope is that I read these and have reviews posted on her before the year ends.
My third and final reading goal is to get my physical tbr down to 20 books. I currently had 32 books on my bookshelf that I haven’t read and through buying and unhauling books I hope to bring it down by 12. I think I can do it, I just need to find the time to prioritize those books over ones I don’t own.
My advice when it comes to setting goals is: don’t set yourself up to be disappointed. Make goals that are a stretch, that require consistency, focus, work, but don’t set them up so far away from what you’re capable of that you never reach them. All that will do is make you feel bad about yourself, and I don’t want that. Be kind to yourself when reflecting on your 2020 goals and be kind to yourself while you make your 2021 goals.
Happy New Year ❤
