The Queen of Nothing

Well folks, I did it, I finished the Folk of the Air trilogy by Holly Black and can now pass on my thoughts and feelings about the finale. I am happy to say that I wasn’t as disappointed as many other reviewers lead me to believe I would be. Overall, this trilogy is a 4 star for me, I think it’s just a good healthy does of young adult fantasy romance, and there’s nothing wrong with it or loving it.

As stated in my Wicked King post, I’m not going to spoil this book, but talking about this book will spoil the previous books.

In this tale, we start out in the human world, as Jude is now in exile after Cardan sent her there for killing his brother. She’s doing work on the side for faeries that are in the mortal world all while trying to figure out a way back into Elfhame, when all of a sudden, her twin sister, Taryn, comes for a visit. In order to save her sister’s life, Jude impersonate her sister for a tribunal in front of Cardan and once again, our girl is back in the faerie world.

The plot and resolution thereof was a bit rushed, but in general, this was just a fun read. And you know what? That’s exactly what I want from this series. I’m not picking this up expecting a new literary masterpiece, I’m picking it up to get some action, steamy action, and fun. And this delivers just that. Do I still think Jude is annoying and an idiot? Yes. But am I glad that I read this series? Hell yeah.
