Wait… another graphic novel about soft, queer boys falling in love? Yeah and this one is gorgeous. The color palette is shades of blue and I’m in love with it. Let me tell you, Kevin Panetta and Savanna Ganucheau did a great job bringing this beach town love to the page in a beautiful way.
The story of Ari, a high school graduate that wants to move to the city with his bandmates but when his family bakery needs his help, he’s forced to stay home unless he can find a replacement. And that leads him to meeting Hector. A young man home from college who loves to bake, what a perfect solution.
This story is sweet and frustrating and complicated and soft and I loved every second of it. I love this sweet slow burn of complete idiots not realizing how good they are for each other. And at the same time, it’s about two boys who are well aware of how good they work together, how well they balance and support each other. Hector confronts Ari, making Ari acknowledge shitty behavior. How amazing is that?
Read the book about my sweet, soft, boys and fall in love alongside them.
